Related Services

The military branches provide related services (RS) to space required special education students at all the Bavaria District schools. The RS team, the Educational Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS), is typically composed of a clinical psychologist, developmental pediatrician, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and for the 0-3 age population of special needs youngsters, an early intervention teacher and a speech therapist. Our EDIS team also has clinical psychologist support and access to an audiologist based at the medical treatment facility.

The Overseas-CONUS Special Education, Related Services, and Early Intervention Services Directory, lists the available Related Service (RS) at all worldwide DoDDS locations. All schools in the Bavaria District receive MRS from EDIS at all sites.  EDIS personnel ensure that the related services are provided to those far away schools, such Garmisch, through regularly scheduled visits.

Early Intervention Services (EIS) for youngsters, ages 0-3, include evaluation and, if appropriate, an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) to address assessed developmental delays. The early intervention specialist works closely with the DoDDS special education teacher and the appropriate school’s Case Study Committee beginning when the child is 2 years 5 months.  This ensures a seamless transition from EIS to DoDDS.
