  Dwight D. Eisenhower Transcript

Hello, my name is Dwight D. Eisenhower I was born on the 14th of October 1890, in Abilene, KS.  I was the 4th boy of 6 children and I got the nickname IKE from my older brother.

I liked to play football in high school but because of a serious injury I was rendered from playing ever again so instead I attended West Point Military Academy.  One year following graduation, I married Mamie Geneva Dowd.

Then I served actively in the tank corps in World War I. Then I served as a chief of staff military aide to Douglas MacArthur, chief of staff of the military who would later command all forces in the Pacific in WWII.

I was appointed the Supreme Allied Commander of the Theater of Operations where I commanded both American and British soldiers. I was appointed Supreme Allied Commander and I planned and okayed Operation Overlord, which was the invasion of Normandy & Germany, which is known as D-Day and I would oversee the invasion of North Africa, Sicily, and later Italy.

The Germans unconditionally surrendered on May 8th, 1945, and soon after WW II ended. Then I retired from all active service in 1953 and I became the president in 1953.

I stopped the Korean War and all fire was ceased in 1953, I signed defense treaties with the Republic of China and North Korea. I was involved Middle Eastern affairs and had to send troops to Lebanon. My presidency ended in 1961, and I died in 1969 on March 28th in Washington D.C. I was 79 years old.
