Welcome to Grafenwoehr, Home of the Joint Military Training Command- USAREUR's "Crown Jewel" of Training and the Home of the Grafenwoehr Grizzlies. As part of the European Military Defense Transformation Project, Grafenwoehr is experiencing many changes. The Department of Defense Education Activity is currently creating and supporting 3 schools: Grafenwoehr Elementary, Grafenwoehr Middle, and the new Netzaberg project that will be home to 1500 Pre-K-8 students beginning in 2008. We are proud of our many accomplishments and are preparing for the new students that will be transitioning from many communities throughout the world. During the past few years, DoDDS and the Military have worked together to create a model that will enhance the educational opportunities for all students in the community. The team resources of community, military, engineering, host nation, and DoDEA officials meet regularly to plan and monitor the dynamics of a growing community. Their main goal is to guarantee facilities that are conducive to supporting academic excellence. The new Grafenwoehr Middle School will promote teaming, engaged learning and high academic standards. In preparation, we are creating classrooms, hiring new teachers, and maximizing community support services for our students. As part of the School-Home- Community Partnerships, we are maximizing our connections to extend beyond the classroom. Many hands and hearts touch the minds and spirits of the students in our village. The educational and administrative planning teams are defining delivery models for safety, best practices, and highest academic standards. The Grafenwoehr complex schools will be well- staffed and well- equipped. Students will have access to the latest technology. Teachers’ professional development will include a focus on standards and curricular implementation models. Here in Grafenwoehr, we are and will continue to be a learning community for the success of all children. |
